Bob McCurdy and the 1982 Phillies take Toledo!

Thirty-eight APBA players descended on Toledo this past weekend for Ron Emch’s fifth annual Glass City APBA Baseball Tournament. What a turnout!

When all was said and done, it was Bob McCurdy (top right) and his 1982 Philadelphia Phillies who were left standing. Bob defeated Jeff Boeding and the 1934 New York Yankees.

To get an idea of what a tournament like GMABT-V is like, take a look at Ron Emch’s video which he posted on his YouTube channel.

That’s a lot of APBA being played. Ron also took some footage of the postseason, too.

Congrats to Bob on the tourney win! Great job on another successful tourney, Ron!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. Congratulations to Jeremy Smith, making the playoffs in his second ever tournament at the GCABT-5. Jeremy’s first tournament was the Scenic City tournament held earlier this year in Chattanooga.
