Don George’s 1969 Orioles replay review

I always like to see how APBA replayers track their projects. In addition, it’s a skill to display the results in a viewable format. APBA Blog readers have already seen the works of Rod Caborn when he submits his masterpieces.

Before the holidays, Don George contacted me about his single season replay of the 1969 Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles won 110 games in his replay, one more than in real life. Like Rod, his method of displaying his results are easily digestible.

As you can see, one technique that Don uses a lot is comparison between his replay stats and real life stats. Most of the starters mirrored their actual performance especially among the hitters (perhaps Boog Powell excepted).

Don threw in some highlights of the Orioles’ 1969 season and even included the 1969 All-Star Game and postseason which he also replayed.

I reached out to Don and asked for some details about his replay. He told me he kept score of his APBA Basic Game replay by hand and tracked the stats using Excel.
