Steve Stein sent me a report on the Transcontinental Baseball League draft which was held last weekend. Unfortunately, his recap was laden with some bad news. Two TBL managers passed away in the week prior to the draft.
At the draft weekend, a moment of silence was held for Paul Harrington, a 25-year member of the league. Paul passed away the Tuesday before. Steve said that Paul was playing APBA GO the night before and won his last two games.
TBL manager Glenn Taylor was also remembered during the get-together. Glenn passed away on Tuesday.
It has indeed been an “emotional” week for the TBL according to Steve. I’m not surprised. Nevertheless, the TBL draft continued as I’m sure Paul and Glenn would have wanted.
And yes, Julio Rodriguez went #1. No surprise to many. Rodriguez has gone first in almost every APBA league draft this year.
Here is how the first round went in the 24-team continuous-ownership TBL:

My thoughts go to the TBL. I understand the bonds of an APBA league. I can’t imagine what this must be like.
RIP Paul and Glenn
