APBA 101: How to buy card sets from the APBA Company

I know some of you are reading the headline and might be thinking, ‘of course, every APBA fan knows how to order cards from APBA, right?’

Actually, how to find a particular season set to order is one of the questions I am most frequently asked by readers who find the APBA Blog. I get contacted by people who just want to order one season and they are baffled.

And you know what? In some ways, I understand the confusion. The APBA Games Company doesn’t sell directly from their website. Rather, they outsource the transaction process to Yahoo! Store which has a very different look and feel. And because APBA offers so many products, to find the exact season, it requires drilling down a lot of menus.

So if you’re shopping for APBA cards, here is a step-by-step method to find the card set you want.

How to find the card set you want

1. Browse to APBA’s website at apbagames.com

2. From there, click or tap on ‘Shop’ on the top menu next to the APBA logo.

3. Then, click or tap ‘APBA Baseball’ or whatever sport you wish to buy cards for.

4. That will bring you to the APBA Baseball menu where you can purchase the baseball game. You can also click or tap ‘Cards and Accessories’ to get you to the cards.

5. The next menu has accessories to purchase such as dice, manuals and the APBA Baseball 5.75 (aka BBW). You can also click or tap ‘Baseball Card Sets’.

We’re almost there.

6. You thought we were there, right? Sorry, I lied.

However, this menu does offer special baseball card sets such as multiple Great Teams of the Past (GTOP) sets and BATS sets. To get to the full season sets, you should click or tap on ‘Baseball Season Card Sets’.

7. Now, we’re getting somewhere! This menu is sub-divided by decades. If you know what season you’re looking for, click or tap the decade that corresponds with your year.

8. Say you are interested in purchasing the 1990 season. You would then click or tap ‘1990-1999 Baseball Season’. That would finally bring you to the promised land.

The 1990-1999 Baseball Season (and any other decade menu) has a couple components. At the top is a pretty nifty feature. You can view and download the roster and lineups for the seasons you are interested. ‘Team Statistics and Standings’ is simply a link to the appropriate Baseball Reference page.

By the way, the ‘[R]’ indicates if the card set you are ordering is a reissue (or reprint). If not, you will be receiving an original print. If you are interested in knowing when the reissue was printed, the APBA Baseball Card 12 List and Publication Data Guide may have that info.

9. Finally, below the rosters are all the card sets of that decade with an ‘Add to Cart’ button. Click or tap that and you are golden.

Anything after that is between you, APBA and your credit card company. If you have any problems, contact APBA at their customer support email address at .

That’s it!

APBA’s menus for other sports like football and hockey work in a similar fashion. APBA Golf is slightly different in that they have menus for Mens and Ladies sets and for different tours.

One more thing… The Yahoo! Store interface uses permalinks so if for example, you wanted to send a link to the 1990-1999 page on the store, you can.

I hope this has been useful for someone. I do understand how frustrating the interface can be.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. And within a month, they’re updating/changing the store experience, right? I thought John said that and it will be unveiled at the convention.

    • I called about a month ago because I was trying to use the site for something I used to be able to get from it, other than purchase sets. My anti virus advised the site wasn’t safe. I simply called to see if the site had been hacked and he said absolutely nothing about changing the store experience and made it clear that he had zero intention of doing anything with it.

While I wasn’t mad, after all, it is his company to do with as he pleases, but in 2024, having a bare bones site run by a third party seems kind of odd. If he was talking about having the Yahoo store experience upgraded to be more like his site used to be, that would great.

  2. I am interested in the 1960 season. Is the card set available? If so, what is the cost? Thank you
