2024 IAL Season final: (almost) all in the family

Last Sunday, six of the Illowa APBA League managers played three nine-game series to close out the league’s 50th season and more importantly, determine who would take the top four playoff spots. Here is how it all shook out:

Those familiar with the IAL will notice something unusual. Three of the top four managers come from the Bunch family. Commissioner Mike Bunch of the Bombers will be facing Don Smith’s Marauders. The other is a brother vs. brother matchup. Marcus Bunch’s first place Upperdeckers will take on sibling Dan Bunch and the Hustlers.

This is the first time I can remember when all three Bunches have made it to the postseason. The first round of the playoffs will be played previous to the draft weekend (hey, I don’t mind watching the games!).

Dan Bunch won three of his last four series to take the last playoff spot with the help of 2024 IAL batting champ Ronald Acuna Jr. (.355).

The IAL Draft weekend has been scheduled for January 31-February 2. Congrats to all four playoff contenders!
