This is why I do The APBA Blog

Can’t help but posting this email I just received tonight from reader Beignet…

“After twisting in the wind for a month about whether it’s time to move past my SOM/DMB fetishes, I figured out that I’ve never had more fun playing a baseball tabletop sim than I have with ABPA.  So I up and bought the APBA board game tonight.  Can’t wait for the game to get here and see those cards again.
Your blog is one of the things that helped recapture the love for this game.  Keep up the good work.”

This simply made my evening.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. Game arrived yesterday. Didn’t take more than a few dice rolls and I was hooked again. It’s been well over 20 years since I last played APBA regularly, but it’s like I never left. I need to get used to some of the new symbols (R for strikeouts, etc), but otherwise it’s the same feeling that no other tabletop game I’ve played really captures.

If everyone played APBA there would be no war.

  2. LOL, that’s right. the world leaders would just be arguing about baseball instead. :)

    have fun and 66s!
