I’m chronicling the exploits of Tyler “51-13” Colvin as he makes it through the 2012 season on my IAL Twin City Thunderchickens.
Check me out, I’m getting my Illowa APBA League stats five days ahead of time! That’s atypical of me. I usually wait till 11:30pm of the deadline date to get them in. However, I have a good reason. Mike “Commish” Bunch wants stats in so he can get the IAL All-Star ballot out to all of the managers. Our All-Star weekend is coming up (a bit late this year) and we’ll get to vote on the starting roster.
I don’t think we’ll be seeing any votes for Tyler Colvin. He played seven games in the month of September in our series against the Marcus Bunch and his Moline Upperdeckers. For the series, he went 2 for 20 bringing his season average down to .142. I’ll give Colvin credit where it’s due. His two hits were both triples and both came in Game 8. That helped us to a 3-1 win against the Upperdeckers.

Unfortunately, those wins were few as we only had two others in the nine game series which included two tiring extra-inning games. “Tiring” because player usage limits are becoming an issue and every at-bat makes a difference.
For those that care, my team nominations for the IAL
- Troy Tulowitzki- SS-10, leads Twin City with 18 HR and .498 slugging pct.
- Nick Markakis- OF-3, probably has best stats for his card, only 3 0s but only 2 rbis less than teammate Albert Pujols (49), .291, leads team with .362 OBP
- Albert Pujols- have to nominate him… 17 HR, team leading 51 rbis.
- Jon Niese- Our best pitching candidate going 5-5 with a 4.18 ERA and 84 Ks in 94 2/3 IP.
