Transcontinental Baseball League draft online: Feb 21

Steve Stein informs me that the Transcontinental Baseball League will be having their draft this Saturday Feb 21..

Not only that, anyone who wants can track the draft online by accessing their TBL Draft Grid web page.  The unpopulated grid plus rosters and available draft choices are already up and online.

Good luck to everyone in TBL!

  1. Steve,
How long do you envision this taking? The day? The weekend?

I have no idea… all the drafts I’ve done have been in person and seem like theyre over before you know it.

  2. When I was in the All-Modem League, our draft was done via ICQ, and it typically took 3-4 hours; although that was for a pretty long draft – in the 10-20 round range, and with 28 teams.

  3. The draft usually takes about 4 hours.
ALERT! Due to ftp connectivity problems, the website has changed. It’s now on:

  4. I changed the link, Steve. Thx.

    Should be interesting.

Ironically (at least in my experience), the first part of any draft goes by pretty fast. It’s when we’re agonizing over the two-bit players when it takes longer. :)

  5. The 3rd and 4th round were brutal, trying to find any nuggets left in the increasingly skimpy pickins. After that, the last 4 rounds went by in a relative flash. Best of all was the comeraderie of friends who see each other face-to-face once a year.

Truly, a good time was had by all.

  6. that’s awesome.

and I concur, it’s seeing everyone FTF that puts it all together. In the IAL, we’re lucky that we can do it 3 times a year.

  7. Steve,
just curious.. what is the Bon-A and Bon-C ?

I assume some sort of Bonus round???

  8. Bonus A and Bonus C are indeed “bonus” rounds, awarded for good citizenship – mostly getting results in on time and not exceeding usage limits. All full-year managers can earn Bonus As. Managers who took over mid-year can earn Bonus Cs.

Details can be found in the TBL Constitution.

  9. haha we have something similar, too.

One more question.. G Soto wasnt in your draft. Just curious why.

your list of available players look similar to ours so i had to ask.

  10. Soto was last year. He went 24th. (All unowned cards and XBs are included in the draft. No XCs)
