Ruths, Bonds, and Gehrigs be damned. 2012 Stephen Strasburg is my monster card this week.
Why? He singled-handedly broke me out of my five game losing streak in the Illowa APBA League this past weekend. After losing the first five games of the weekend, he not only pitched our team to a win but also hit a grand slam to win it for my Thunderchickens. He struck out 11 batters and pitched a complete game in the effort.
For the weekend, he hit four homeruns in five starts including two in one game.

Obviously, I’m getting pretty lucky with Strasburg at the plate. He’s got a good hitting card for a pitcher (four 0s, 44-7, six second-column 1s) but he’s already surpassed his homerun total for 2012 probably five times over (I know he’s hit at least one other homerun this season).
Now what would you do in this situation? I caught myself saying, “Eric Hinske’s going to pinch hit for Strasburg… no, wait a minute.”
