Monster Card Monday: 1981 Bill Lee

Because I’m reading Big Hair and Plastic Grass (still working on it… it’s been a busy vacation), I thought I’d feature 1981 Bill Lee this week as the Monster Card.  The colorful character that he is, Lee is featured quite a bit in that book.

With a 2.94 ERA in 31 games and 7 starts, Lee pitched well in 1981.  That said, he also had a lucky year at the plate going 8 for 22 with a homer.

Here are Lee’s pitching stats:

Lee’s ‘81 card is pretty tasty for a split grade pitcher.  aside from being a C(B*)Z lefty, he gets a nice hitting card, too.  ‘Spaceman’ got two 1s for his efforts with hit numbers 1-1-7-7-7-7-7-8-8-8-8-9-9.

Appropriately, he received no 14s.  He also has no 24s with a 41-27.

I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
