Is APBA Online the future of APBA Baseball?

APBA has announced their new online version of their Baseball game, appropriately called APBA Online.  In tandem with this announcement comes an additional web domain name for the company.  To register, create or join a league and buy tokens to play, you can go to http://apbabaseball.com

There are plenty of screenshots to look at the Company website to whet your appetite.  Even more helpful are several video tutorials which will most likely be quite helpful.  I suggest anyone consult those if you are having trouble.  I watched a couple and they walk you step by step through a couple processes necessary such as creating a league.

APBA Tutorial Video on Joining a League

It’s hard to comment on the product since I haven’t tried it yet but going by the screenshots and video tutorials, it does look pretty nice.  I admit I’m a cards and dice guy and probably will be till they pry them away from my cold, dead hands.  That said, when I get time, I’ll give it a try.   BBW fans, on the hands will most likely will find this intriguing and if I’m right, will certainly be using it.

If anyone does try it, I’d love to hear what they think about it.  Is it fun?  Playable?  What is the interface like?

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. So, is online play supported? Or is this just an online substitute for the league management stuff in BBW?

There’s some interest coming from the computer players (and some of the non-computer players) in TBL. Too bad it’s still PC-only.

  2. I agree to bad it is still only pc. I am also a card and dice guy, but I am very anxious for a computer game. Would be even better if they made it look like the cards. Different than what they have I know, would still be fun I think.

At any rate this a great step overall for APBA.

  3. I’ve started a league through the AO site. It’s called ‘First!’ Still have room for five more owners. 16-team league, half-DH, 81-game season with draft in December and play running about 1/1-3/31. Just want to see what the portal can do. Planning on using the 2012 data disk, but if 2013 ships early, we might use that. To me, we could use the 1913 disk, I just want to try the portal.

  4. Hi Shawn,

I filled the last spot yesterday, but I’ll keep you in mind if somebody drops…

    • Chris Strovel, I decided to buy and start my own league, where do you find the C-file? I can’t find mine, and personally I think the guy who is on these films to help could be pointing and showing, instead of clicking away. A bit confusing, really not enjoying myself right now.

  5. Shawn, I sent you a friend request on FB. Let’s chat about it there. Will be easier in a quick chat than trading a bazillion comments here. ;)
