Beau Lofgren sent in this nifty 1994 Rick Wrona card that was published just this year. Wrona certainly didn’t have a lot of playing time but APBA rewarded him with a fun card.
Wrona ended his career in 1994 with Milwaukee. That year he went 5 for 10 for the Brewers. All five hits went for extra bases including four doubles and a homerun.

Let’s hope there aren’t any APBA players who are going to just save Wrona’s at-bats for runners on third situation. He would be deadly. APBA gave Rick power numbers 1-1-6-6-6-6-6-6-6.
Interestingly for a .500 hitter, he has NO 7s on his card with a 31-8. To take the runner on third situation further, Wrona’s 8s would be hits against Grade A pitchers (as well as C and D pitchers, of course).
Wrona is among so many players who made a decent living as a backup catcher. While he only accumulated 168 career at-bats (and 18 rbis!), he managed to extend his career for six seasons for three teams. As a Cub fan, I do remember the guy!

1994 was the year that I used for my XC team project. Wrona didn’t make the cut at catcher; my Cs were Matt LeCroy and Bobby Estalella.
