Never have I seen an APBA card go from “Monster to Mendoza” like this 1992 Nelson Santovenia card (published in 2017). Beau Lofgren who suggested it, certainly thought so. This Sox catcher Santovenia card is the epitome of “all-or-nothing”.
For the year, he went 1 for 3 and he (you guessed it) homered for his only hit.

A couple interesting things about Santovenia’s card:
- He received six 1s on his card. Twelve would have been statistically correct but as per usual, APBA downgraded him due to severe lack of playing time.
- Santovenia did receive one 45-14 despite not walking during the season. However, there are no 13s on the card accurately.
- Because the dearth of 13s and 14s, APBA was forced to add odd number combinations that you wouldn’t normally see on most cards (42-27, 35-30, 31-32 etc.)
Nelson Santovenia wasn’t exactly a slugger in his seven-year career but he did hit 19 homers in 776 AB during a three-year stretch (1988-1990) with Montreal. Alas, his fielding did him in. He was second in the league in errors in two straight years while not even playing full time.

Interesting the 12 is not at 23 and the card was printed in 2017.

Now that you mention it, that is strange. Copyright says 2017 and it was my understanding that all cards were going to have the 23-12.
