By this time of year, there are a lot of APBA baseball tournaments springing up around the country. I thought I would give an update on a few of them.
TCABT-XXIII
It’s hard to believe that the Twin Cities APBA Baseball Tournament is going to have its 23rd tourney soon! On April 5th, dice rolling will commence in Shakopee, MN.
Right now, they are in the process of drafting teams. So far, 29 teams have been picked. Follow this link to Jim’s APBA Barn to see which teams have been chosen.
Toledo Glass City APBA Baseball Tournament
Ron Emch’s tourney in Toledo has become a favorite in the ten years it’s been around. He’s getting help from father-son duo Norm and Zach Zavela. This year, the theme is “MVP and/or Cy Young winners”. The team you choose must have an MVP or Cy Young winner on the team.

Second Annual South Bend APBA Baseball Tournament
TEAMS: 1903-1993, 1995-2019, 2021-2023
DATE: Saturday June 7th, 2025, 9 am
LOCATION: South Bend Holiday Inn Express
THEME: 100 Loss Teams
SBABT tournament organizer Bob Winenger wants you to work for your runs! For his tourney, you can only use teams with 100 losses. I love this idea.
See full SBABT tourney rules here.
KC APBA Tourney
The KC APBA Tourney is a relatively new tournament and looking to grow. They don’t necessarily have a theme but in their words, “it is any APBA team from 1920 to present….excluding 2020….and past champions”.
My friend Jeff Boeding is putting this all together and I’ll vouch for his character. He’s a stand-up guy.
Date: Saturday, May 17, 2025, 8:15 am
Location: Gladstone Community Center
Cost: $25.00
Greater Michigan APBA Baseball Tournament
It may be too late to register for Rich Zawadzki’s 11th annual GMABT. The tourney takes place next weekend, after all. It’s probably okay. Pastor Rich’s popular tournament already has 59 managers registered!
Stray Corrado has helped Rich with a helpful website for the GMABT if you want more info.
Chicagoland Summer APBA Baseball Tournament
Organized by Rob Spatz who pours his heart and soul into the Chicagoland tourney, this has been my go-to since it is so close. Rob’s tournament has grown so much since I attended the first time when about 18 showed up. So far, 48 are signed up!
Date: July 12, 2025
Location: Am-Vets Post 66 in Wheeling, IL
Cost: $40
This year’s Chicagoland theme is “I Wish I Knew You When I Was Young”. Any non-retired team from 1905 – 1970 may be chosen.
If this kind of thing interests you, give a tournament a try. I will vouch that it is a lot of fun and you get to meet some great APBA folk! It’s worth mentioning that the APBA Newsletter does a pretty comprehensive job of listing tournaments as long as they know about them.
Happy rolling!
