Terribles vs Monsters Poll: Vote for Terribles Firstbaseman!

mcmtctaTime to vote for the first basemen.  We’ll start with the Terribles’ squad.  (more info here on this project).

I admit throughout the time I’ve done the Terrible Card Tuesday column, there haven’t been too many first-sackers that have come my way.  The position just doesn’t lend itself to weak hitters.

So as a result, you have three to choose from.  From advance comments I’ve been hearing, I have an educated guess who might win this poll but I’ll keep my comments to myself till the polls close.

Each player’s name is linked to his original Monster Card Monday article written about him and his APBA card associated with it.

Monsters Team nominee

APBA card breakdown

1984 Darrell Evans 1B-3, 1-6-7-8-8-8-9-9, five 14s
2011 Adam LaRoche 1B-4, 0-0-8-8-9-9, five 14s
2011 Adam Dunn 1B-2, 0-0-8-8-9-9, five 14s

LaRoche and Dunn are actually from both the 2011 season.  The outlier, Darrell Evans, doesn’t even have a really terrible card to be honest.

It’s your turn to vote!

In related news, the poll for the Terribles catcher ended yesterday.  Here are the results:

It looks like Johnny Bench will end up playing on my little project.  Ironic, huh?  You have a couple more days to vote for Monsters catcher, though!

Next up, Monsters firstbasemen.  That should be fun choice!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
