Earlier this year, I wrote about an attorney named Sarah Johnson who was representing the estate of a deceased individual that included an large collection of APBA cards. I posted some photos provided by Ms. Johnson and even more photos in a follow-up article.
After five months, Ms. Johnson’s firm has just contacted me to let me know that the APBA cards (and other baseball paraphernalia) are being sold via an online auction. There will be a live auction on June 24 but bids are being taken now. If you are interested, there are new photos on the bidding site which give us a better idea of the condition of the cards (some are not even opened).
A total of 43 items are up for bid. There are many card sets that range from the 1930-1960 seasons plus a couple from more recent years. There is a full APBA Baseball Game in the mix as well.
I have no stake in this matter but thought this might be of interest to the general APBA baseball community. Here is the link to the auction site. If anyone takes part in the auction, let me know if you win the bid!
It is definitely worth mentioning Earl L. Wehry. The APBA cards belonged to him until he passed away late last year. I did not know Earl but a quick search reveals that he was a professor of chemistry at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He was obviously a big APBA fan as well with a penchant for past seasons.
RIP and 66s, Earl.
