Herson thread on Between The Lines

I just got around to skimming the “Ask John” thread in the APBA-Between the Lines forum.  For those who haven’t been on in a while (like me), APBA CEO John Herson has opened up the floodgates for questions of any kind and indeed, it was a flood. There were at the time 347 messages to go through.

For someone who is most likely very busy at this time of year, Herson was pretty diligent and tried to answer every question he could.  Kudos also to most of forum members.  I expected a lot of cynicism and sarcasm but with a few exceptions, all of participants were asking substantive questions and there was little trolling going on.  I should give the APBA community more credit, right?

For the most part, questions revolved around team roster sizes (that was a big sub-thread), company purchasing policies, season availability, and of course, release date of the 2011 season.

Herson made this comment in regards to the release:

“We expect to begin shipping the disk the week of December 4th.”

That’s like next week.  Crossing my fingers.

If you haven’t already, definitely check out Herson’s thread on BTL.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. I just got back into APBA after a 35 year break. I ordered the basic game and the 2011 Pre-Order cards online first. Then decided to order the 2007 cards for my solitaire replay. Given my order for the basic game was tied to the 2011 cards, I knew I would not get the game until those were released. So, I called APBA’s published phone number to try and get the basic game sent to me before the 2011 player cards. Lo and behold, guess who answers the phone? Yes John. He was a pleasure to speak with, listened to my situation and fixed it immediately. John, you have one very satisfied customer here and sincere thanks to you for your concern!!
