APBA in the News: Coverage of the Chicagoland Tournament

This photo and caption recently appeared in the Woodstock Independent:

I’m not sure how “quiet” we were but given it was held at a library, I understand the joke.  Fortunately for other Woodstock Library patrons, the tournament was held in the basement far from those intent on reading.

Pictured is Don Smith and eventual tournament runner-up Clark Eichman.  I posted this photo on Facebook and fellow tournament participant Shawn Baier commented:

I chuckled only because he was probably right on the money.

Thanks to organizer Jim Saska for scanning the photo and thanks to the Woodstock Independent for showing up to cover our event.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

2 Comments:

  1. Move over Mike Scioscia, Don Smith plans on being the Los Angeles Angels manager : )

  2. And he is having a giant duck call installed in the rocks out in left center.
