19 out of 20! Joe Deauseault, Darren Schulz win the Challenge!

The 2nd Annual APBA Blog Pitching Grade Challenge has come to a close. When I tabulated the results, there were two people out of the 125 eligible entrants who tied for first place. Darren Schulz and Joe Deauseault both guessed 19 out of the 20 pitchers correctly.

According to the Challenge rules, I was going to pick a grand prize winner out of a hat. I even did so with the help of three Illowa APBA League members (and live streamed it on Facebook). Afterwards, I received an email from APBA CEO John Herson who told me that he would be happy to award both winners the prize of the 2019 baseball season on APBA GO. Thank you, John!

Joe and Darren, congratulations as the co-winners of the 2nd Annual APBA Blog Pitching Grade Challenge!!

I’ve already been in contact with Joe and Darren and have notified them that they are winners. The APBA Company is aware as well.

I’ve already been asked which pitcher Joe and Darren missed. Interestingly, they both missed the same one. Both picked Max Fried to be a B, presumably on his 17 wins. Fried received a C from the APBA Company.

I would like to recognize the entrants who came close. Nine voters correctly guessed 18 out of the 20 pitchers.

They are:

  • Ron Carlson
  • Alberto Rondon
  • Ed Occhi
  • John Clingan
  • Chuck Modzinski
  • Leon (no last name given. If it’s you, feel free to ‘fess up!)
  • Ken Agar
  • Mike Bunch
  • Ed Kay

Nice work, gentlemen!

I also took the Challenge in an unofficial capacity last week. Not to toot my own horn but I guessed 18 correctly (I can’t let my commissioner Mike Bunch get a big head).

More information on the Challenge voting here! Don’t forget, the new season is now available on APBA GO!

Congratulations to Darren and Joe!!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. Is there any way to see how I did personally in this?
