Recently, Doug Chapin posted the card that every APBA fan wanted to see. Bryce Harper’s 2015 card. It’s about as close as we’re going to get to a Monster Card for the previous season for a full time player.
And it’s really not bad. Harper hit .330 for the Nationals and led the league with 42 homers. He also hit 38 doubles for that extra gap power.
The kicker… he walked 124 times which contributed to his league-leading .460 OBP.
Split | G | PA | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | SB | BB | SO | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2015 Totals | 153 | 654 | 521 | 118 | 172 | 38 | 1 | 42 | 99 | 6 | 124 | 131 | .330 | .460 | .649 |
Like last week’s 2002 Bonds card, Harper’s card seems a little underwhelming until you factor in the walks. Harper has six of them. It’s then when you realize this card’s potential. Harper struck out 131 times but it only translates to six 13s. That’s a lot but it could be more.
Otherwise, Harper gets nice power with numbers like 1-1-0-0-0. He won’t hit too many out from the extras but hey, he has a 44-0.
Fun numbers: 44-0, 21-40, 61-14
Finally, Harper is fast, an OF-2 with a good arm (if you play Master Game or BBW). The small things add up.
My big beef is not with the card but with his stats. A .330 average with 42 homers while batting 3rd or 4th all year and only 99 rbis? That’s rough.
Thanks, Doug!
Is there a number for getting in a shoving match with Papelbon? ;-)
44-0 is scary!
I have posted all my end of August stats for my 1967 AL replay. I invite you to stop by and enjoy.
Bryce Harper having the initials “B.A.M” any chance a nickname of “Bam-Bam” will stick? ;)
Not enough !
