I just know I’m going to catch heck for posting this 2015 Curt Casali card for Monster Monday. It didn’t stop Don Smith from drafting him in the Illowa APBA League rookie draft though.
Tampa catcher Casali went 24 for 101 for a .238 average in 2015. More importantly, he hit 10 dingers in 113 plate appearances.
Split | G | GS | PA | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | SB | BB | SO | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2015 Totals | 38 | 33 | 113 | 101 | 13 | 24 | 6 | 0 | 10 | 18 | 0 | 8 | 34 | .238 | .304 | .594 |
Pure and simple, Casali has three 1s and two 6s and that’s about it. In the old days, with a runner on third, we would say he was “B-T-R” which was short for “Better Than Ruth”.
Good luck with the new meat Don!
BTR, oh geez. If you’re going to feature flukes, check out 1967 Hank Aguirre. Aguirre was a famously inept hitter on a par with Bob Buhl and other famous automatic outs. Fans at Tiger Stadium used to cheer when he’d foul one off. (The did the same for shortstop Ray Oyler.) Anyway, in ’67 he managed to go one for two, with the one being a triple, so he has 9 “2”s on his(re-issue)card and no other hits. Besides the triples, it makes him a crazy-good bunter, too.
