I purchased the APBA GO 2019 set this past week so I’m getting a sense of what the cards will look like when they are clutched in my grubby hands.
Today, I’m featuring what I think is one of the best cards in the set among full-timers. Enter Christian Yelich of the Brewers.
Runner-up in the NL MVP vote to Cody Bellinger, Yelich led the NL in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage (.329/.429/.671). He hit 44 homers with 29 doubles and even stole 30 bases.
Split | G | GS | PA | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | SB | BB | SO | BA | OBP | SLG |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2019 Totals | 130 | 127 | 580 | 489 | 100 | 161 | 29 | 3 | 44 | 97 | 30 | 80 | 118 | .329 | .429 | .671 |
Yelich has impressive numbers and his card doesn’t disappoint. If I had his card, I would only wish I could play it a little more. Yelich only started 127 games. That said, he did get in 580 plate appearances.

Yelich has the rare combination of power and speed. That translates to power numbers 1-1-5-5-6 (wow!) in addition to an 11 and a 10.
Christian has four 14s, one which has the steal-inducing asterisk. He struck out 118 times which I guess is pretty acceptable for a 44-homer guy (Mike Moustakas is the only Brewer starter under 100 at 98). A Yelich owner will be happy enough when he rolls a 41 with a runner on first. He has a 41-13. No 24 there.
Will this card hit .329? It will get close. I predict it will hit somewhere between .316-.326. With this year’s pitching (or more accurately, this year’s APBA grades), it could be even higher.
Don forget that he is also a fast Outfielder with a 3 defensive rating.
Hi Daniel,
I totally forgot to mention that! All that offense is fantastic but Yelich goes the extra step. That’s going to win a few more games.
