In the spirit of the Houston Astros World Series win on Saturday night, I thought I would go to Steve’s APBA Card Computer site and look at what perhaps Yordan Alvarez’ might look like. Turns out, it is a bit of a monster card.
For those new to APBA baseball, it’s worth mentioning that postseason stats are not considered in APBA’s card making (there are rare exceptions). Which is probably a good thing for Yordan Alvarez. Despite his heroics in Game 6 and earlier in the postseason, his overall stats were ho-hum.
That said, his regular season numbers were pretty tight with Houston.
Split | G | PA | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | SB | BB | SO | BA | OBP | SLG |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2022 Totals | 135 | 561 | 470 | 95 | 144 | 29 | 2 | 37 | 97 | 1 | 78 | 106 | .306 | .406 | .613 |
Alvarez is no Babe Ruth but I certainly wouldn’t kick him off my lineup either.
I will again emphasize that this is an unofficial card. We’ll see what numbers the APBA cardmakers give him.
Overall, five power numbers is the ultimate goal in the current era. Steve’s site gives him four eights which is rare but would help replicate his .306 batting average.
Yordan Alvarez is projected to receive five 14s. Pretty good by any standard.
Congrats to all the Astros fans out there!
I agree with your monster card for Yordan Alvarez except there should be only 4 14’s and one 11 in the second column.
