This week, in honor of my Chicago Cubs finally winning the World Series, you are going to see articles featuring the 2016 Chicago Cubs using Steve’s APBA Card Computer*.
Kris Bryant followed up his 2015 Rookie of the Year season with an even better year in 2016 in so many ways. He hit better (.275 to .292), he had more power (26 HR to 39 HR and .488 to .554 SLG) and he struck out less (199 to 154 K). He led the league with 121 runs and homered 39 times. Overall, his OPS went up from .858 to .939.
He even was hit by the pitch 18 times.
All this while being versatile in the field. He bounced from third base and the outfield while also playing first and even shortstop. This was actually a point of contention in my baseball circle. Some said he would produce even more if he was relegated to just one position. Thoughts?

Steve’s APBA Card Computer has Bryant with power numbers 1-1-6-6 and a 15-10. It looks like he’ll have four 14s and a 42.
With only three GIDP all year, Bryant won’t have any 24s either. Expect a 41-28. And while Bryant struck out 154 times in 2016, he won’t have the god awful number of 13s he did when he struck out 199 times in 2015. He still won’t get two 31s though.
Steve’s APBA Card Computer doesn’t calculate fielding but I don’t see Bryant losing his 3B-4. As for his OF rating, my guess is that he’ll get an OF-2.
The best thing about this card is that Bryant will be playing for my Twin City Thunderchickens. Yes, you can expect to see this card playing third base for me… or maybe the outfield.

Love the blog, and the salute to the ’16 Cubs! I am also a Cubs fan (since ’81). Bryant should absolutely get a (F) rating this year, not only for leading the league in runs, but also his base running acumen. Anyone watching the playoffs got a good dose of that and I really hope APBA doesn’t drop the ball on that one.
