Weird Card Wednesday: 1970 error correction card

image

Today’s Weird Card isn’t really an APBA Card at all but was included in the 1970 set.  It was an accompanying card that simply corrected the errors that APBA Company caught after the set was published but before it was shipped.

Scott Veatch who sent this to me, says:

“The yellow card is kind of unusual in that it’s the only one of it’s kind I’ve ever seen included with any of the original APBA sets I have. APBA caught the errors before the cards were shipped and included this card. It’s from the original 1970 season set.”

This card simply says:

Chicago White Sox

“Ken” Berry

Dice no. 66 should read 0-1

Montreal Expos

“Coco” Laboy

Dice no. 31 should read 13-6

Baltimore Orioles

“Pete” Richert

Should be Grade A* Pitcher (1)(XY)

Like Scott, I’ve never seen anything like this in any season set that I own.  I’m wondering if it’s a one of a kind release.

thanks, Scott!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

One Comment:

  1. It’s certainly a smart way to communicate the fixes, and it’s a great format for incorporating potential new rules into any APBA game (a “rare play” or “trick play” or “unusual outcome” deck, for example).
