Weird Card Wednesday: 1980 Greg Minton

minton

Greg Minton had a pretty solid 16-year career as a reliever with the Giants and the Angels. In 1982, he won 10 and saved 30 games with a 1.83 ERA and came in sixth in the Cy Young balloting.

In 1980 though, he happened to get hit by a fellow opposing pitcher which led to this odd card.

Unless your name is Ron Hunt, you don’t usually get more than one 42 on your card.  ‘Moon Man’ however, gets three on his 1980 card.

Minton is no stranger to odd hitting cards.  He went 6 for 13 with a homerun in 1983 and received a card to reflect that.  Who knows?  Maybe I have my Monster Card picked out for next Monday.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
