Weird Card Wednesday: 2018 Keon Broxton

There is so much to love and hate about this 2018 Keon Broxton card that I had to include it in this week’s Weird Card Wednesday column.

In just 89 plate appearances, Brewer Broxton hit four homers and stole five bases.  He also walked eleven times.  At the same time, he hit only .179 and struck out 28 times.

With a .179 batting average, you won’t see many hit numbers on this card.  Broxton has two 8s and one 9 which equates to a nasty 25-40.

But if you look on he bright side, he has decent power (1-3-5).  He has five yummy 14s, too.  Two of those 14s come with an asterisk to go along with his 15-11.

One of my metrics for judging an APBA card is how many on-base chances it has against an A pitchers, that is, result numbers 1-7, 10, 11, 14, and 42.  Keon Broxton can reach safely on nine of his 36 numbers which is pretty decent.  In fact, that is just one less than this Monday’s Monster Card 2018 Luke Voit (who hit .322) who had ten.

Don’t underestimate the power of the walk!
