APBA Baseball board game back in stock!

apba_2266_168488Back in Stock! says the APBA Co. Website.

Yes, the APBA Basic Baseball board game can now be purchased again after being out of stock for months.

The new game “includes expanded pitcher strikeout ratings, and a new optional "Official Scorer" system, designed to fine-tune the fielding phase of APBA baseball.”   According to APBA, this is language is from a previous release and doesn’t apply to the current new boards.  The board game engine is presumably the same.

The board game also includes two teams, the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers of 1953.   According to Phil Grabar, this info from the APBA website may also be incorrect.  See his comment below.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. Can we get some initial responses from gamers on these changes?

  2. I think the included teams are the Giants, Tigers, Angels, and Nationals.

    • I love the APBA Baseballgame. I have the old APBA basic Footballgame, but I was never able to get into it.

How does the new boards differ from the 2001 game I have, and rule book. How about the new rule book, and HR Derby.

Would I need to get new cards to use the new features or would my 2011 cards work?

  4. Kelly – You don’t need new cards.

  5. I think APBA will be updating their sales page to make it more reflective of what the new game really is. :)

  6. It is kind of unbelievable that the website does not make clear what teams come with the basic game for $25. I clicked on “Buy Now” and I did not see anywhere where it tells you this. Hmmm.

It would be interesting if it came with the Tigers, Giants, Nationals, and Angels because those are the exact teams that come with the basic Strat-O-Matic game for 2013 (2012 season). How do you find out? Order the game and open up the box when it come sin the mail?

  7. Any pictures available?

  8. I ordered my game last week. Hopefully
I will get it next week.

I will take some pics and confirm
    the teams that are included.

New boards are great as I can read them in good lighting with NO glasses. Need rules for the home run derby to be explained better.
