Chicagoland Tournament getting closer and growing bigger

The Chicagoland APBA World Series Tournament is two weeks away!  Thanks to the hard work of organizers Doug Schuyler and Jim Saska, the list of attendees is growing and the bounty of prizes is becoming more lucrative.

Doug told me today that as of today, 20 people have committed to the tournament which will be held at the Woodstock, Illinois Public Library (map) on November 16th.  My guess is that more will be joining so I’m expecting a pretty decent crowd.

New prizes from Alpharetta!

The tournament winner’s prize will be any season of APBA baseball courtesy of the APBA Game Company.  Doug talked to APBA CEO John Herson and received several (I count six in Doug’s photo) new 2013 game booklets to give away as prizes!  Thanks to Mr. Herson and thanks to Doug for his work.

For those might still be interested in participating, here are the official rules of the tournament as worked out by Doug and Jim.  There is contact info on that page for those who wish to enter.  Also for those on Facebook, tell us you’re coming on the Chicagoland APBA World Series Tournament Event page and be part of the ongoing discussion.

Thanks again to Doug Schuyler and Jim Saska for making this possible!  My 1966 Baltimore Orioles are ready and I’m really looking forward to seeing everybody!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

2 Comments:

  1. Hoping that the 1911 Philadelphia A’s and their $100,000 infield can bring home the trophy!

  2. Maybe the 1961 Los Angeles Angels (inaugural season) led by Leon Wagner (“Get your Rags from Daddy Wags”) will shock the world.

Two comments. 1) I hope this is more than a single elimination tournament. I think most would hate to show up to play only one game. 2) Is the APBA Blog going to publish a list of participants & their teams?

    DonS.
