Solving life’s mysteries: who was the APBA t-shirt model?

t-shirt-bumpersticker-275x300A week ago, the APBA Company took us back a few years and posted an old advertisement on their website from the Dick Seitz era hawking their t-shirts and bumper stickers.  I remember the ad well.  In fact, I had the bumper sticker up on my garage wall when I lived with my parents.

Though, a couple of us were wondering… who was the dapper model sporting the t-shirt in the ad?  Surely, it was someone we knew, right?

Well, leave it to Kevin Cluff, moderator of the APBA- Between the Lines forum, to find the all-important answer.

He left the answer in a BTL post.  Kevin says:

I found out who he is/was, but not his name. . .

He never worked for the company.  He was a friend of Dick Seitz’ who used to hang out at the same bar as Mr. Seitz did, up the road from the GameCo.

Thanks to Kevin for solving this mystery!

Also, as much as we all like to hear about patch updates and card set releases, I like the attempt by the Company to bring some levity to the APBA website.  It brought back some fond memories.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
