UAL looking for managers

I’m posting this on behalf of friend Shawn Baier of The Boys of Summer blog.

For those that play the APBA Basic Cards with Optional Fielding, the Ultimate APBA League is looking for owners for their 2 open franchises. We play with Games limits on position players, strict innings on relievers, and varied limits on starting pitchers. It’s a league with 24 teams, and we will be doing the 2019 UAL Draft in July, which will use the 2018 MLB Season for APBA cards. The season goes from October through March (April playoffs), which on most months we play are 15 home games, while sending instructions out for our road series.

I had a blast, my team won 102 games in its opening season, made the playoffs (but lost 3-1 in opening series). Next year, will be rough for me since I had a team full of ‘off-seasons’. The league itself has been around 30+ years.

You will need to own the 2018 APBA Card set, with 2018 stats, which includes the XB’s (no need to order XC’s). I should add that we use a salary cap using the real MLB salary caps for those players in that season. For example, I am likely going to cut Yoenis Cespedes because I am not paying that kind of money for 31 games or whatever, LOL!

Please contact Larry Wilson, the commissioner at for further info, in which he can provide PDF’s or whatever. The constitution is pretty straight-forward.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
