The APBA Company had a chance to do good for some boys and girls and really came through.
It started back when Brian Cavanaugh submitted a league profile to the APBA Blog for the Bridesburg Boys and Girls Club Baseball League and a few days later I wrote a quick follow-up article about the league which organizes kids at the Boys and Girls Club in the Philadelphia area to play APBA.
A few days after that, I received a phone call from the CEO of The APBA Game Company asking if he could contact Brian. He read the story about the Bridesburg league (gulp, the CEO of APBA reads this blog). He thought it was a great thing that Brian was doing and would like to help them out.
Personally, I agreed. Anything that organized at-risk kids to do something constructive is great. The fact it gets young people involved in APBA is even better. I introduced the two of them together via email and within a couple days, I got an email from Brian with good news.
He wrote:
He is going to supply us with the 2010 cards (regular roster plus extra players). park effects and master symbols for our season this summer… I am truly thankful and grateful for this donation. I know the kids will enjoy this upcoming season more with everything that we are being supplied with. This is truly a first class move by a first class organization, I can’t thank APBA enough. This is turning out to be a great week….first Cliff Lee coming back to the Phils and then this!!!!
A big thank you goes your way as well for running the blog site and for posting my review. I just wanted to share our league experience and brag about the kids and then all of this comes our way. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this!!!! Thanks again and I cant wait to share the results of our league this summer!!!! Maybe I’ll post a review of my 1994 Expos season that I’m in the process of completing. Thanks again and have a great Halladay season!!!!
That is great news and thanks to APBA for showing some great holiday spirit.
As for Brian, good luck in the upcoming season of the Bridesburg Boys and Girls Baseball League. Enjoy the cards and keep up the good work at the Boys and Girls Club!
By the way Brian, I’d love to post the results of your 94 Expos replay. And yeah, I caught the Halladay reference.
