IAL announces 2010 awards

019I wonder if  Albert Pujols is pretty POed at me right now.  Pujols, who is my firstbaseman in the Illowa APBA League, just won the IAL MVP award for 2010.

Thing is, I didn’t vote for him.  I casted my vote for a write-in, Alex Rodriguez.  I’m no fan of ARod but he hit 50 homers with 100+ rbis on the first place Chicago Champions team.

The vote was close.  Pujols won with 4 votes to Miguel Cabrera’s 3.

Don’t get me wrong, Albert had a great year hitting 46 homers with 121 rbis.  But he didn’t lead the league in a single category and didn’t hit .300.

Don’t worry, I’ll make it up to you, Albert.

More importantly, Tedd Mallasch (who you see writing on the APBA Blog once in a while), won Manager of the Year thanks to his 102-60 record.  Congrats to Tedd!

You can see the full ballot and list of winners at the IAL website.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
