I’m glad Rod Caborn sends me email updates on his league, the Orlando APBA Association. It gives me an excuse to check out OAPBA’s fun web site. It’s colorful (literally and figuratively) and reminds me of the old time Sporting News format in its games wrap up.
And it warms my heart to see the three photos of broadcasters Red Barber, Harry Caray and Ernie Harwell who the three divisions are named after.
Rod writes:
The Orlando APBA Association is at the halfway point in the 2011 season. The league now has three three-team divisions. Best overall record for 2011 belongs to Dave Larson’s Taz Devils (28-12, Red Barber Division) while Kris Stenger’s Gashouse Gang (22-18, Harry Caray Division) and Marc Bostrom’s Road Warriors (22-18, Ernie Harwell Division) lead their respective divisions. For 2011, OAPBA will expand the nine-team league’s playoffs to include a wild card and a fifth place wild card with both wild cards meeting in a "play-in" series.
It looks like it’s anyone’s race in the Harwell Division.
