Last night at our favorite coffee shop, my friend John Brandeberry and I got together for a little APBA. We played our June Illowa APBA League series. The score doesn’t matter. We just had a great time. We played our series instead of at this weekend’s league get together because Brando will busy getting his house ready to be sold. He’ll be moving to Montana at the end of the month to join his wife, Maggie.
It’ll be an end of APBA era for me and my crosstown friend. Brando certainly has no plans to quit the IAL and wants to come back for league functions. However, the days of “hey, let’s get together and roll some dice” are pretty much at an end.
I’ve given notice to my wife that within a couple years, a trip out West is in order for us. On the itinerary when that happens will be a series (or two) between the Twin Cities Thunderchickens and Missoula Rattlesnakes and maybe a trip to see the Missoula Ospreys play.
This weekend, the Illowa APBA League (sans Brando) will be meeting up to play for their annual Spring Convention in Bettendorf, Iowa. Rolling for the Missoula Rattlesnakes will be assistant manager Dan Bunch, son of IAL commish and manager of Green Rock Bombers Mike Bunch and brother of Moline Upperdeckers manager Marcus Bunch.
Best of luck, Mr.Brando!.. have a great, safe trip!
All the best!
Jim
