Sunday night mish-mash

Just playing catch-up on a few things:

APBA Mel

Mel M was so happy he got his 2012 Master Card set he sent a photo.  Thanks, Mel!

– if you’re on Facebook, Dom Provisiero has initiated another one of his APBA Roll Calls.  I love that Dom does these.  They’re simple but it gets everyone back in touch with each other.  During these roll calls, folks usually note their hometown and invariably at least once each time, someone will find out there is a nearby person that plays APBA.  Here is the link if you want check in.  As of now, there are 58 people who have posted.

– I got an email to call a reader of the blog named Jim Shaw the other day so I rang him up.  Once on the phone, we were chatting like old friends.  Nothing more to say except that the bond of APBA and baseball do run deep.  I was talking to a complete stranger who was hundreds of miles (and tens of degrees, mind you) away from me.  Yet, we shared something in common that allowed us to communicate on a great level.

Thanks Jim!

-Finally, this isn’t APBA related but perhaps interesting to a few of you.  I was interviewed by Chris Webb of B1G Baseball on the other great love of my life… Illini Baseball.

Thomas Nelshoppen

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
