1966 NL replay All-Star ballot – Shortstop

Groat’s .246 slugging % means he watches on TV

I know I’m powering through these All-Star ballots for my 1966 Basic Game replay. I really appreciate all of your votes! Up today, NL shortstops.

There are some sleepers in here. And I mean some shortstops that I did not expect to hit well. A few of these fine glovemen were also in the top ten in hitting for a while. To be honest, this may be one of your toughest ballot choice.

And because shortstop is the most important defensive position, here are the defense ratings for each:

  • Alley SS-9
  • Bressoud SS-7
  • Cardenas SS-10
  • Davenport SS-8
  • Jackson SS-8
  • Kessinger SS-8
  • Wills SS-9
  • Woodward SS-8

Bold indicates he currently leads the league in that category. To provide some statistical context, here are my replay’s top ten leaders in hitting categories as of July 3rd.

Vote for two!!

Who should start represent the NL as shortstop in the All-Star Game in my 1966 replay?

  • Kessinger, Don CHI (14%, 10 Votes)
  • Cardenas, Leo CIN (7%, 5 Votes)
