Five ribbies for “Jolly Cholly”

I love emails with the subject line “News Flash” especially when they regard events from 1930.

The Chicago Cubs destroy the Cincinnati Reds 27-3

Date: 5-26-30

The Cubs had 31 hits 11 walks and 6 home runs.  They had 9 batters come to the plate in the 1st, 11 in the second, 12 in the 3rd and 10 in the fourth.

The Cubs scored 3 runs in the 1st, 7 in the second, 7 in the 3rd and 5 in the fourth.  Woody English was the only hitter to have less than 3 hits (1) in the game and that includes the pitcher, Sheriff Blake

Hack Wilson had 4 singles, a double, a home run and 6 rbi.  “Jolly Cholly” Grimm had a double 2 home runs and 5 rbi to pace the Cubs

John Brandeberry is replaying both the NL and AL 1930 seasons.

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
