I’ve seen reports of some APBA fans having some trouble accessing Steve’s APBA Card Computer so I thought I’d pass on a quick tip to help fix it. I’ve encountered a Java error and so did a fellow manager in the IAL. It’s a quick fix and once implemented, it’s taken care of.
If you get this error:
or this one:
Your security settings have blocked a self-signed application from running
This is what you can do:
- Go to the Java Control Panel (On Windows Click Start –> Control Panel then Java)
- Click on the Security tab
- Click on the Edit Site List button
- Click Add in the Exception Site List window
- Click in the empty field under the Location field to enter the URL of Steve’s web page (I put in “http://www.jrat.net/steve/compuduck/cardcomp/” (without quotes) and it worked)
- Also, it’s a good idea to make sure you are running an up-to-date version of Java.
- As I said, this seemed to work fine for me. Steve, if you read this and have other suggestions, feel free to chime in.
- By the way, thanks Steve! Great tool!
Thanks I can’t believe it worked but it did on this windows 8 computer Thanks! Don’t know why this is the 1st time ever having a problem! I have been using Steve’s APBA Card Computer for years and he has always been helpful! Great Guy and site!
I am still unable to get on Steve’s APBA card computer. I have an Apple MAC.
Hi Andrew,
Try this: http://shellzero.wordpress.com/2014/01/24/how-to-fix-application-blocked-by-security-settings-mac-os-x/
Same concept of editing the site list and adding Steve’s url: http://www.jrat.net/steve/compuduck/cardcomp/
If you try this and it works, please let me know.
thanks!
Tom
I still can’t get it to go, I have the latest Java & did all of that above.
