Wait, what? An APBA Soccer card? I’m out of my element now. Fortunately, I have Craig Christian guiding me through this. Craig suggested a 1958 Pele APBA Soccer card and walked me through it a bit.
Craig gives this quick summary
You set your lineup according to the offensive rating 1-10 which plays into how your top players…usually forwards get the most scoring chances.
Most of your plays come off a defensive formation sheet which indicates the action. Could be a pass to a certain zone in the field or a shot on goal or a defensive play which leads to loose balls or all out steals going the other way.
So like the other APBA games the low numbers mean shots or you get a 48-49 are your foul numbers. Game flow is smooth and goes pretty quick. It’s still new to me.
Craig is relatively new to APBA Soccer game but has really taken to it:
It’s a neat game….easier than hockey to learn. Low scoring so far. Must be easier to score a goal in hockey than soccer although the the SOG is the same action.
I am assuming SOG is Shots On Goal (look at me, I’m learning!).
Thanks for introducing a bit of diversity to The APBA Blog, Craig!
