The APBA Blog tournament page is filling up.  Thanks to Ron Emch’s heads up, I added two more tournaments for the 2016 season.

Ron himself is organizing the second Toledo Glass City APBA Baseball Tournament on August 27, 2016.  If it’s anything like the first, it should be very successful.  check out the TGABT Facebook page if you’re interested or there is more info on the tournament page here.

Ron also clued me into the Forest City Showdown hosted by Bill Lilley.  The “Showdown” will take place in the Cleveland area on May 7th.  More info here or on the Forest City Showdown Facebook page.  Good luck Bill!

Prairieland APBA Baseball Tournament – April 16th

But hey, why am plugging these tournaments when I have my own to organize?  I’m kidding, of course but the Prairieland APBA Baseball Tournament is less than two months away.  With the help of Eric Berg, Dave Rueck and Thomas Fulton, we will be set to roll on April 16th here in Urbana, Illinois and I’m getting pretty excited.

With new additions of John Kalous and Dave Sachs, we now have ten participants signed up (with a few more deciding on teams).

Dick Butler    1908 Chicago Cubs
Lew Ramey    1908 New York Giants
Tom Fulton    1911 New York Giants
Thomas Nelshoppen    1930 New York Giants
Bob Eller    1948 Cleveland Indians
Eric Berg    1969 Minnesota Twins
Lance Freezeland    1977 LA Dodgers
Dave Sachs    1982 Milwaukee Brewers
John Kalous    2015 Houston Astros
Dave Rueck    2015 Pittsburgh Pirates

I’ve set a very soft deadline for March 1 to choose a team for the Prairieland APBA tournament.  Don’t worry though.  We will most certainly have room afterwards so if you’re still interested, let me know.

You can find rules on the tournament here and join the Facebook event if you want to follow the excitement.

You can find the full 2016 APBA Tournament calendar here.  If anyone is hosting a tournament and wants it hosted, email me and let me know.

Thomas Nelshoppen

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as the BBW Boys of Summer APBA League since 2014. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. Tom,

Wish I could come out there for this tournament! Here’s hoping you knock one out of the park.
