Jeff Boeding and the ’06 Naps go all the way at TCABT-XIV!!

On October 17th, Jeff Boeding managed his 1906 Cleveland Naps to victory at the 14th edition of the Twin Cities APBA Baseball Tournament hosted in Shakopee, Minnesota. Jeff defeated Kevin Cluff and the 2019 Los Angeles Dodgers.

You can read a very comprehensive recap of TCABT-XIV at Jim’s Fraasch’s awesome blog, Jim’s APBA Barn.

Finalists Kevin and Jeff (seen above) began the tourney in the Tom Seaver Division. A somber reminder, the divisions in TCABT-XIV were named after those memorable players we lost in 2020: Kaline, Brock and Seaver.

After the quarter-finals and semi-final were completed, Kevin and Jeff were across the table from each other again. After losing game 1, Jeff’s Naps came back to win the last two to show deadball is for real.

Congrats to Jeff Boeding seen top receiving the tourney trophy from Jim Fraasch! Kevin deserves some kudos too. I know he’s seen his fair share of trophies.

The next TCABT-XV is already in the works. Jim writes:

Our next Twin Cities tournament (TCABT-XV) will be held Saturday, April 10th, 2021 as we play for the 8th April Championship in TCABT history. Same location, The Shakopee Youth Center in Shakopee, MN. The team selection process for TCABT-XV will begin in January. Stay tuned!

Thanks to Jim Fraasch for passing this on! His articles and photos are always great to see!

  1. As someone currently playing the 1906 season, the Naps (I prefer to call them the Indians) are an underrated team. Armed with 3 A starters several B’s and a couple of .350 hitters with more than enough speed this team is currently keeping the White Sox and A’s a comfortable distance behind them.

With half a season yet to roll this may end up as an interesting prequel of the 2016 World Series.

  2. Hey Tom, thanks for the mention on The APBA Blog! Note, we have had to move our spring date from Saturday, March 27th, 2021 to Saturday, April 10th, 2021. – Jim
