Register now for the 3rd Semi-annual Twin Cities APBA Baseball Tournament!

TCABTIt seems that APBA tournaments have really blossomed in the last few years.  With the success of the Chicagoland Tournaments and now, Pastor Rich Zawadzki’s Greater Michigan APBA Baseball tournament, APBA fans just want to connect with others to play the game they love even if it’s for just one day.

Now, there will be an APBA baseball tournament up in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.  It’s called the Neil Ess Memorial Twin Cities APBA Baseball Tournament and it’s the 3rd time around for this tourney.

Here are the important details:

  • Date:  Saturday, April 4th, 2015
  • Time: 8:30 am
  • Location: 9575 Glacier Lane Maple Grove, Minnesota
  • Contact:  Jim Fraasch (email jwfraasch ( at ) ens.net)

The rules are bit extensive so I’m including them on a separate page.  Here they are in pdf form.

PREVIOUS TCABT CHAMPIONS
Saturday, April 5th, 2014:
KEVIN CLUFF (1927 Yankees) defeated Jim Fraasch (1973 Reds),
2 games to 0

Saturday, October 4th, 2014:
LEROY ARNOLDI (1954 Giants) defeated Bruce Tyler (1930
Cardinals), 2 games to 1.

The Twin Cities Tournament is named for APBA player, Neil Ess.  According to Jim Fraasch, “Our tournament was named in honor of Neil Ess, an APBA Baseball player since 1961. He attended our first TCABT in April of 2014. He passed away suddenly while on a fishing trip in July of 2014.”

Registration is now open!  You can contact Jim or follow the tournament event on Facebook for more info.  Craig “Tower Guy” Christian has been great about getting the word out about this.  Keep us updated!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.

  1. Tom, first, thanks for posting this on the APBA Blog site! We appreciate it! Also, thanks to Craig Christian for getting the word out on Facebook. The fact that these 3 different tournaments continue to draw bigger “crowds” is the best thing for this hobby of ours. Regional APBA Tournaments give a few more options to those who might not be able to pull off a longer trip to Atlanta for the APBA Convention. We expect to hit at least 16 entrants for our 3rd tournament. We are always looking for more! – Jim
