Veterans Day Tournament set for November 10

Rob Wyks has come up with a pretty original idea for an APBA Baseball tournament.

  • Date: Sunday, Nov 10, 2019
  • Location: 1393 Russell Branch, Leesburg, Va 20175
  • Time: 0830
  • Cost:20$

It takes place on Veterans Day so each team may pick an extra player as long as he’s an official Veteran of the military.

Rob says:

COLD WAR ERA 1946-1991

The extra player must have been a veteran, in the team franchise and only one on team.  Baseball reference has a category page, or you can prove it some other way.  The extra player will be kept secret so people do their own research.   https://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Category:Veterans.

Here are the full set of rules for the Veterans Day Tournament on November 10.

My favorite rule for this tourney??? The Beanball rule.

Bean Ball

After a team hits three batters (Hit By Pitch) the pitcher who hit the third batter will be thrown out of the game. Any pitcher who hits a batter after the third HBP will be thrown out of the game.

Great concept for a Veterans Day tournament. If you’re interested, do your homework. There are plenty of great veteran players out there!

Good luck, Rob!!

I am an IT consultant by day and an APBA media mogul by night. My passions are baseball (specifically Illini baseball), photography and of course, APBA. I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
