Hi Tom,
If I was smart enough (like you and Mike) I could have attached a couple of the old minor league season that I downloaded…for free! (1964 Pacific Coast League, 1980 Southern League to name a couple).
They are pretty cool and so is this site! (Maybe a new link for you and the Blog!) I can’t locate the files I downloaded though!Remember let US be the GM!

Many of us know of Steve Stein’s APBA Card Computer web page and appreciate it greatly. I know I visit it a few times a week to see how my league players are doing this year.
But to Chuck’s point, did you know Steve has made APBA cards for over forty minor league seasons available for download? You can find the link here. These season sets include AAA, AA, A and rookie leagues as well as a smattering of Independent teams, Japan leagues and college teams (yay, Big Ten!).
So this week’s Monster Card is 2013 Javier Baez from when he was with the Tennessee Smokies in the Southern League.
Wow, three 14s for Javy! That’s the first thing I noticed on his card.
This was the year before Baez made his debut in the majors so of course, he was impressing the scouts. Power, speed and defense (okay, that comes eventually).
Steve puts the stats on the card but here they are from Baseball Reference.
Year | Tm | Lg | Lev | G | PA | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | SB | CS | BB | SO | BA | OBP | SLG |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2013 | Tennessee | SOUL | AA | 54 | 240 | 218 | 39 | 64 | 15 | 0 | 20 | 54 | 8 | 2 | 19 | 69 | .294 | .346 | .638 |
I’m sure Steve does not make a living off these card sets. The downloads are considered “shareware” (a term I hadn’t heard in a long time). So, if you decide to download one, he does provide a link for each set if you wish to donate for his time. Thanks Steve!
Also, thanks to Chuck for the suggestion!
Thanks Chuck! Thanks Tom!
Wow! Three walks on Baez’ card! Thanks for all of your work Steve! Is there a way to pay/contribute other than through PayPal?
