I don’t award Monster Cards on fielding ratings too often. Ryan Morrison wrote me. He says…
Here’s a card I know you will appreciate because you and I know very well how big a role he played in the Cubbies’ run to the World Series last year. It’s a solid hitting card with a 15-11. I love a good power-speed combo, but these reasons are not the main reasons why I’m submitting this card to you. I’m submitting this because not only is this card a good hitter and runner, but add that in with ridiculous defensive ratings! And at every position besides pitcher and catcher! I would recommend this card to any fantasy draft league out there because Javy Baez can do it all! He could stand to walk a little more though.
Billy Beane wouldn’t appreciate this card!
I won’t even bother putting Baez’ hitting stat up. To me, the amazing thing of this card is that he is rated Fielding One at all four infield positions (1B-4, 2B-8, SS-9, and 3B-5). As far as I know, he is the only player with that distinction.

Thanks Ryan!!
Pretty generous rating at 3B in my opinion. Great middle infielder though for sure. He made some ridiculously sick plays in the playoffs last year.

My OFAS Honus Wagner is rated: 1B-4, 2B-8, SS-10, 3B-5, & OF-2 Top that.
Wagner is the ultimate bench player! Excellent defense at 7 positions (including outstanding at his primary position), hits for average, is a big extra base hits threat, drives in runs, steals bases, ands has excellent speed. The only way he would be better off the bench was if he was a switch hitter – LOL.
Hi Daniel,
Point well taken. Wagner is one of best ballplayers of all time in my opinion.
Baez continues to impress with his glove work — he has great range and a powerful arm but on top of that he may have the best tag move I have ever seen. He is an aggressive baserunner and hits for power as well. About the only area I think he could use improvement is cutting down on strikeouts. Very happy that he is a Cub and he would be welcome on any APBA team that I manage.
