This oddly-photographed card belongs to 2013 Dan Uggla of Don Smith’s Molly Putts Marauders from the Illowa APBA League (as well as the Atlanta Braves). When I encountered Molly at the IAL All-Star weekend and found out he had a 15-14, out came my camera. This is an action shot with Uggla up to the plate.
In 2013, Uggla hit 22 homeruns and walked 77 times yet hit only .179 for the Braves. In other words, a fairly typical year for Dan though slightly down in the average department. While his averages tend to be on low side, Uggla does historically hit for power and finds ways to get on base.
Split | G | PA | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | SB | BB | SO | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2013 Totals | 136 | 537 | 448 | 60 | 80 | 10 | 3 | 22 | 55 | 2 | 77 | 171 | .179 | .309 | .362 |
To recreate Dan Uggla’s 22 homeruns in 537 plate appearances, APBA gave him power numbers of 1-5. He only gets four more hit numbers after that, the 8-8-9-9 combination.
To his credit, Uggla does have a decent on-base card relatively speaking. He received five 14s plus a 13-42. Uggla trivia: he has as many on-base numbers against an A pitcher as 2013 Albert Pujols. Count ‘em! As a Pujols owner, that’s depressing.
Uggly numbers: 33-8, 15-14, 25-14
Look for another terrible card next year for Uggla. He hit .162 in 145 plate appearances in 2014.

In yesterday’s article about predicting the 2014 cards, I totally forgot to mention one the biggest contributors… Steve Stein’s APBA Card Computer. Incredible tool! I’ve added it to the article.
Well I guess It can safely be said that MR. Uggla had an ugly card in 2013. Sorry couldn’t resist lol.
LOL, wayne. Yeah, note the “Uggly numbers” in my article too :)
The only thing worse than a 2013 Dan Uggla card
is …….the 2014 Dan Uggla card….presuming that he’s one of the lucky “top 30” on the APBA carded list. I suspect he won’t be but he will
be a fairly ugly sight in the XCs.
