I am blatantly copying and pasting Ken Schulz’s words from Facebook because they made me giggle out loud in the coffeeshop.
Oh that weird 1997 season when Harold Baines pitches to a stunning 136 wins and only 16 losses somehow in only 137 games. However of those 137 games he did start 452 of them. He also had 67 saves, and an ERA of 0 despite only letting 37.5% of a homerun.
Those were some wild days!
Thanks, Ken!!
Hi Tom,
I am admittedly not a “Harold Baines Guy”, but anytime an outfielder can appear in just 55 innings and get 136 wins you gotta be impressed!
Another card I would consider unusual is the 1908 John “Crab” Evers card. If you roll two 66’s in a row you get a double. if you 66 or 11 followed 11, 22, ,33, 44 or 55 you would get a triple. I would have expected the second column 66 to have 2 not a 6. The second column 55 to have the 6 not a 2. The whole season set is unusual to me because it has tow error numbers at 52 and 23 on almost every player. I never seen any other season set with that feature.
