Ken Brand’s Knuckleheads win RCMBA World Series!

I love hearing about other league’s finishing their season. It’s a testament to its longevity. The Roberto Clemente Memorial Baseball Association (RCMBA) is no exception as they have just completed their 45th year!!

John Briggs sends a tongue-in-cheek recap of the postseason.

The 45th RCMBA World Series is over and our new champion is the old champion. Ken Brand and his Knob Noster Knuckleheads remain the best we have and we see Ken (above) celebrating the win.

Mike Fisher (right) doesn’t appear to be all that thrilled as losing his 3rd World Series match sinks in. The Knuckleheads won 104 games in the regular season to secure the #1 seed and a first round bye. In round two, they dispatched Homestead 4 games to 2 with great hitting as Trevor Story belted a homer and 3 doubles that got 7 rbi on 7 hits. Their WS opponent was the Albuquerque Horsemen and Mike Fisher . They reached the finals sweeping Port St Lucie in R1 and then taking out Western NY 4 games to 3 with Paul Goldschmidt starring by hitting 3 homers, 2 doubles & drove in 5 on 7 hits.

In the Finals the Knobbies won the opener 7-5, Carpenter had 3 rbi. They won again in game two by a 4-2 score with Carpenter again leading the way with a two run triple. Moving to Albuquerque, the K’heads went up 3-0 in games by winning game three 5-4. This one went ten innings and the winning run was scored on a Rogers wild pitch. The Horsemen did stop the Knob Noster train by winning game four 5-1 behind a three hit night by Scooter Gennett.

In Game 5, Ken Brand claimed his 8th RCMBA title with a 9-5 win. Story, Betts and Carpenter all had two RBI each and Carp was the series MVP on 8 rbi via a HR, 3B, 4 doubles. Tip of the cap to Ken who worked very hard to assemble this team and his Assistant GM Whammy Douglas is once again smiling. Congratulations Ken!!!
