TBL post-draft analysis for your viewing pleasure

In the “Because-it’s-fun-to-watch-guys-talk-about-APBA-cards” department, here’s a couple videos submitted by Steve Stein of the Transcontinental Baseball League. The TBL is a 24-team play-by-mail league and its name is no misnomer. Members of the league span the continent from New England, Midwest and the West.

These two videos were recorded after the latest TBL draft. Featured most prominently are Walter Hunt and Rich Meyer discussing the players’ cards from the TBL’s Williams Division.

Steve provides some context:

One of the key features of the TBL Annual is the analysis of each team with the T.Q. system – a rating of every team’s pitching, offense, defense and bench. Here’s a glimpse into the process that determines the ratings.

Every year on the evening after the draft, Walter Hunt and Richard Meyer hold a session where they lay out the cards of each team and determine the ratings. This year, I video’ed one division’s worth of that session.

Thanks for giving us all a glimpse into the TBL, Steve! Good luck this season, managers!

I have been fortunate to be part of the basic game Illowa APBA League since 1980 as well as a frequent participant of the Chicagoland APBA Tournament. I am slogging through a 1966 NL replay and hope to finish before I die.
